I've made a few small additions to the blog that I would like to call to everyone's attention. I have added the Daily Dancer to my links section. This page contains a computer geek that loves to dance and he posts a minute long dance every weekday morning. In my opinion, he's the next William Hung.
Secondly, I've added a few other links on my page. The first is a like to Blingo.com, this page is a search just like google, except the site randomly gives out prizes to people while they search so you have some added incentive to search with Blingo.com. The other addition is the freeipod.com offer that everyone in the world has. Simpson's Movie

The Simpson's have come a long way since first airing on Fox in December of 1989. The long-running cartoon satire has filled world-wide living rooms with constant laughter. In recent years, The Simpson's popularity has dwindled due to the recent success of Reality Shows and other cartoons such as Family Guy and South Park. Though rumors about a Simpson's movie have surfaced in the past, they have always been shot down by the claim that if a movie were coming, it would not come until the show had ended. Now, Nancy Cartwright (the voice of Bart) has shined new light on the project saying that not only are they making the movie, but they are already in production. Hopefully this movie will bring back the fame the Simpson's had in the mid-90's.

Downloadable Titles?

Nintendo has recently released a list of the games that will be available for download when the Revolution is released. Many rumors have said that these games will be free of charge, but that is not correct. Nintendo is planning to charge small fees for the downloads, but they will also offer several promotions. One promotion may be a limited time free download, while others will be similar to the ability to receive a free download for each new Revolution title you purchase. Since the Revolution will not have more than 512 megabytes internal memory, gamers will want to buy memory cards that they will be able to save the downloaded titles to and then transfer these to your computer hard drive for storage and later use. This is a smart move by the big N because many gamers can spend hours upon hours playing games such as the Super Mario Brothers series, Goldeneye 007, Tetris, the Zelda series and etc. For a full list of the available NES, SNES, and N64 titles for download, visit this site.

More Affordable Apple Computers?

Recently in the news, information has been released that Apple plans on switching its processors from IBM to Intel. For consumers this is good news. Hopefully, by switching processors, Apple will be able to drop the price of their high priced computers and become competitive with companies like Dell.
I am not much of a computer wiz by no means, but I do know that Apple's Macintosh operating system is not only more stable but is also more user friendly. If the price of Apple computers comes down, Apple can hopefully gain a large percentage of the market share.
This could be the beginning of a comeback for Apple.

The console wars are beginning to heat up and this is considering that 2 of the 3 systems are not even going to released in the next year. Xbox360 will be making an appearance under Christmas trees this year but Sony's PS3 and Nintendo's Revolution are going to be kept under wraps until early to mid 2006. I've read a lot of articles on the 3 systems and it appears that as of right now it is too early to decide on who has the best strategy.
Microsoft has a huge advantage being the first to the market, but that could also bite them in the ass because Sony and Nintendo will have plenty of time to adjust their systems to be certain that their systems are have superior performance. The Xbox360 does look like a mean machine though. It, like the PS3 is planned to be a household entertainment hub. On top of playing video games, you'll be able to chat, email, surf, and numerous other things all on this one system. How well Microsoft performs on this front is still up in the air.
Sony is going for a similar machine that Microsoft is going for. The advantage that Sony has is that their system will be technologically superior to Microsoft and Nintendo's systems. Sony has build a processor that they call "The Cell." I'm not exactly sure why it is so special but Sony has made "The Cell" sound like its the greatest technological achievement known to man. On top of the processor, Sony's PS3 is going to be the first console to be able to truly be playable in 1080i and possibly 1080p High-Definition. They are making this possible with the use of Blu-Ray DVD's, which will hold much more information than the current DVD. Sony's clear advantage in High-Definition will definitely be a huge selling point for many gamers, but most Americans have till not purchased a HDTV and for this reason, Sony's venture may be before its time. Needless to say, HDTV is the future and Sony is putting one foot in the right direction by leading the industry into HDTV.
The Nintendo Revolution is the underdog of the three consoles. Minimal specs have been released about the Revolution other than its appearance, which according to Nintendo will likely be smaller upon release of the system. The systems is no bigger than 3 DVD cases stacked on top of each other. Nintendo is taking a step away from Sony and Microsoft by not creating an entertainment hub and instead sticking with the conventional game machine that will likely save consumers on price. Like Sony and Microsoft, Nintendo will be using wireless controllers but Nintendo is the only one to not give the public a view of the controller. Many rumors have surfaced about the controller including a LCD screen and gyroscope technology, but none have been proven. In the end not much is known about the Revolution or even why it is "Revolutionary." One thing that is known is that if Nintendo misses with Revolution, they may be booted from the console wars and dropped exclusively in the handheld market.
In my opinion, Sony and Microsoft have a clear edge. As long as Sony isn't hurt by Microsoft's rush to put their system on the market, Sony should end up again as the winner. Nintendo just hasn't given enough information to rank them anywhere near the others. There is one known thing though, the gamers out there have a soft spot in their hearts for games like Mario, Zelda, and Metroid and as long as Nintendo continues to create these games and other exclusives, there will always be a small niche for Nintendo.

Graduation

I witnessed the graduation of the Class of '05 at Forest Hills Northern tonight. Personally I found the graduation to be a little out of control. The number of graduates was immense and I have no doubts that the number of students who did not graduate, if any, was tiny. I do not agree with this. Students need a clearer picture of what to do with their future. Should a students go to college or enter the workforce out of high school. Seems to me that schools are pushing a college education on everyone and the truth is that a college education is not the right answer for every student. Some would be better off not wasting the immense costs of college these days and should instead focus on a career.
One possible way to give students a clearer picture of what to do with their future is a by changing the way the GPA works these days. From my understanding, a GPA is a way for students to judge their performance against other students. How is this possible if numerous students achieve a GPA of 4.0 or better. The only reason some of these students are higher than others is because they had taken more AP credits. What kind of message does this give these students? I'll tell you what it tells them:

You are on the same intellectual level as the other 4.0 or better students, and
There is no need to put forth more effort than what is needed to achieve a 4.0

I propose that the GPA scale be changed so that the top student in the class has below a 4.0 and the average is moved back to a 2.0 where it should be. This would be done by an increased difficulty added to the classes in schools. By adding difficulty, students with 2.0s will still receive the same education as before but the students with a 4.0 have room to increase their knowledge. Also, classes will have caps on the GPA given. A remedial math class may have a cap of a 3.0. By instituting these caps, students are no longer awarded the same for doing well in a remedial class as an upper level calculus course. By instituting these proposals, students will have a true class rank and it will be based on intelligence and effort.
I believe if measures such as this were introduced into public education students would receive a much greater education than they are receiving currently and they will be taught how to give forth a greater effort in their individual skills. These are just some ideas that stir off the top of my head, but this is definitely an issue that I believe needs to be covered eventually, but until they abolish the current funding by performance practices, these issues will never be touched.

I decided to throw a couple of advertisements from Google's AdSense program. I get paid an extremely small amount every time someone clicks on my ads so please click away. The program is very interesting. You sign up and they will examine your site or blog to determine if your page is suitable for AdSense. Once they approve your site, you then create an advertisement on the AdSense homepage and copy it into your blog. The content of the advertisement is grabbed right out of your blog or page so the ads all depend on the content that you add to your blog. For example, if I were to write golf, golf, golf, golf, golf, golf, golf, golf, golf, golf, golf, golf, there is a pretty good chance that there are some ads related to golf on my page.

Tired Thoughts

I just made myself a quesadilla. Just cheese, lettuce, salsa and 2 tortillas in the microwave. Had a few popsicles today too. Really starting to get down in the grub. I foresee Meijers in the near future.
I have to go back to work and school in the morning. Work I don't mind because I don't do anything, but I really dread class for 3 hours and 20 minutes, although Game Theory is very interesting and its been getting even better.

Golf Game

I'm loving my new set of Powerbilt Grand Slam Irons. My 8-iron broke last year, but since Powerbilt clubs have a lifetime warranty, I sent my 8-iron in to get fixed like the other 2 I had broken before. I kept trying to get my club back until finally just short of a year later, I got ahold of someone who told me that they had lost my 8-iron and would exchange me for a brand new set for my old set. Score!
Anywho, I'm smacking these clubs extremely well. Friday, I played with my dad against a couple friends of his in the scramble at Scott Lake Country Club. We scored very well on the front but my putting quickly deteriorated on the back and we ended up losing 5 bucks overall. The whole match came down to the last hole where if me and my dad won, we would have won about 12 bucks, if we tied, we would have owed one dollar and if we lost that whole is where the 5 bucks came in. Needless to say, after I sliced my drive into a tree and OB, and dad hooking his to the edge of the swampy area to the left, we were toast.
I went out to Scott Lake again last night with Sharma. We played the East 9 at about 6:45. The course was clear and very relaxing. Before I left my house, I switched up putters in my bag to see how my old putter felt. Perfect! Exactly the switch I needed for my short game. I wasn't making anything spectacular, but I was hitting every put within a short distance of the cup, which I had no trouble knocking down. Approach shots were working too. The only 2 areas that still need work are my chipping and I need to figure out how to be more consistent off the tee. My drives are going long, but they need to be straighter.
We'll see how this weekend goes. I've got a game with Lynch against Vega and Liz Clement.

1 Frozen Dinner (Chicken Breast, Mashed Potatoes and Corn on the cob)
Lots of Popsicles
1/2 Container of Sherbet

Not really much for a meal. I'll probably eat the Frozen Dinner for Breakfast and I'll have to make hot chocolate for a beverage.
